Classes Offered 2011-2012
Pre-School Combo:
These classes introduce children to dance geared to
their physical and emotional levels. Emphasis is placed on
having fun and a positive self image. These combination
classes offer ballet for coordination, tap for rhythm, and
include a variety of activities and props for creativity.
Ballet: Grace and strength are taught stressing timing and
execution. The ballet class is the basis of dance education. Pointe is open to students by invitation.
Tap:
“Making music with your feet!” These classes improve
rhythm and precision by teaching the proper shifting of
weight and patterns
in movement.
Jazz: An introduction to the basic techniques of jazz and
interpretive dance is taught in this class.
Fun, “popular styles
of dance are taught to upbeat music. Open to students in
grade 1 and higher.
Lyrical:
Incorporates ballet and jazz to capture feelings and
self expression. It is a fluid dance with balance and
emotion. By interpreting the lyrics or mood of the song,
lyrical dance encourages poise, grace, and creativity. Open
to students in grade 3 and higher. Younger students are
permitted by permission only.
Baton: These classes
are open
to ages 4 years and older. The basics of twirling and
marching are taught to work on balance, rhythm, and
coordination.
Mommy & Me:
Creative Movement is the basis for this parent/child
class. Motor skills, creative dance, props, and games are
used in a circle time format to teach song and dance
exercises. This class is designed for children ages 2-4.
Classes are taught in sessions.
Hip Hop - This fast paced, athletic class is
taught by executing free form movement and body isolations.
All movement taught is G-rated. Students will build
strength, stamina, and expression. Hip hop is very popular
in movies, commercials, and concerts. Open to students in
grade 3 and higher.
Modern -
Modern dance encourages dancers to show basic human emotions
through contemporary movement.
It is a more relaxed, free style of dancing that
centers on a dancer's own interpretation. Movements tend to
be sharp and heavy. Open to students in grade 6 and higher.
Boyz Beat: Boyz Beat
promotes balance, strength, coordination, and other gross
motor skills. They will learn the value of cooperation,
sportsmanship, rhythm, and expression while
developing
stamina and precision. It will also help them gain
confidence to pursue other sports.

Combination classes of
Baton/Tap and Tap/Jazz are offered. Ballroom and Zumba classes are also available.
Birthday Parties are also available.
