Dance Studio Huntington, WV
Instructors

Melissa Meadows McGuffin (Owner/Choreographer - Preschool, Jazz,
Tap)
Melissa began dance at the age of
three taking classes in tap and ballet, and later in jazz
and baton. During her Junior High school years, she
taught dance and baton for the Beverly Hills Youth
Football League. In High School, she was a member of the
Huntington High Pony Express Majorette Corps for 2 years
and the Slight Touch Dance Team for 3 years. She began
teaching again while attending College at Marshall
University. She choreographed for area studios, the Pea
Ridge Theatre, and for the 5th Avenue Theater Company
before opening her own studio in Fall 2002. She also has
spent her summers performing for the Huntington Outdoor
Theater. She has choreographed for 1st Stage Theater
Company’s HONK! and Babes In Toyland; for Fairland High School’s spring
theater shows, Where’s Charlie?, Grease, Music Man, and Footloose; and for Huntington High
Schools spring shows, Grease and Cinderella. She is
the choreographer for Huntington High Schools
Illusions Show Choir. Melissa's primary focus is with
preschool and early elementary children teaching ballet,
tap, jazz, and mommy & me. She and her husband,
Aaron, have two wonderful children, Katelyn and Ryan, who
also have dance talent. Melissa is from Huntington, WV
Tonya Farley Parker
(Instructor - Twirling, Tap) 
Tonya has been dancing since she was 4 years old. She took lessons in
jazz, tap, ballet, and pointe from Summersville Dance Theatre. She
was a member of her High School Dance Team and was captain for 2 years.
Tonya began twirling when she was 7 years old. Growing up in
Summersville, WV, she was a member of the Summersville Missyettes. While attending Nicholas County
High School, she was a member of the majorette corps from 1986-89 and was named Head Majorette for the
1987-89 seasons. Tonya was also a Marshall University
Majorette from 1989-90. Tonya has both instructed and
choreographed routines for several high school majorette
groups. She was a judge at the Governor's Cup
Marching Championship in Summersville for many years. A graduate of MU,
she is married to Dicky and has two children, Madison and
Ben. Tonya teaches
our twirling classes and several tap classes.
Bridget
Watters (Instructor - Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap)
Bridget
is a Marshall University Graduate with a major in
Business and a minor in Dance. She is a graduate of
Huntington High School where she danced on the Dance Team
for two years. She has several years of gymnastics,
dance, and twirling competition training as well as
ballet, lyrical, and jazz class training. She currently
is the Dance Team Coach for Marshall University in
Huntington, WV. She choreographs for Christ Temples
Dance Team and also for their Academy, a private
Christian school. Bridget teaches jazz and tap, and heads up our Hip Hop,
Lyrical, and Boys programs.
Shea
Goodrich (Instructor - Tap) 
Shea graduated from Marshall University with a degree in Biology, and
attends Marshall University School of Medicine. She began dancing at age 3 with ballet and tap and
later took classes in gymnastics and jazz. She has danced
on Huntington High Schools Dance team, Christ
Temple Churchs Dance team, and has taken classes in tap, modern, folk, African drum, and musical dance
theatre. She served as the Assistant Director for
Christ Temple Churchs Dance team and assisted with
their Academys after school dance program prior to Medical School. Shea
teaches our upper level tap students.
Christine Cline
(Instructor - Swing For Kids, Preschool)
Christine began dance at the age of 3yrs. She took ballet, tap,
jazz, and modern at the Turning Pointe Dance Studio in Huntington for 8
years. Christine has also danced in several theater productions. She is
a freshman at Marshall University. Christine teaches our Swing For Kids
class and
preschool classes.
Katelyn McGuffin
(Assistant - Jazz, Tap, Preschool)
Katelyn is a 14 year old student at Huntington High School.
She enters her 12th year of dance this year having taken classes in
ballet, tap, jazz, baton, hip hop, and lyrical. She has been in several
community musicals including Carnival and Annie as well as many at her
church and schools. She has directed choreography for Beverly Hills
Baptist Church children and for Premiere Dance Studio's Summer Hip Hop
classes.
Melissa Cremeans
(Instructor - Baton)
Melissa joins PDS for the first time this year teaching tap,
Baton, and assisting in preschool classes. She was a majorette at Vinson
High School and their Color Guard instructor in 1994-1999. In 2000-2002,
she coached Chesapeake High School's Color Guard. She tapped for 8 yrs
at Nancy's School of Dance and danced in their Forever Young group.
Melissa earned an Elementary Education degree from Marshall University
and currently teaches first grade at Chesapeake Elementary. She is
married to Greg and they have a daughter, Addison.
Amy
Young (Instructor -
Jazz, Preschool)
Amy is returning to PDS this year as a preschool assistant
and jazz instructor. She began dance at the age of 5yrs taking classes
in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and gymnastics. Amy has a Bachelor's
degree in Biology/Chemistry from Elon University and has plans to attend
Medical School in the fall of 2009.

Heather Keeling
(Instructor - Jazz, Tap, Ballet)
Heather began dance at the age of 3yrs taking classes in ballet,
tap, jazz, lyrical, and character from the Turning Pointe Dance Studio.
As she got older, she taught jazz, tap, and ballet there. Heather is
assisting in our preschool classes. She works at the Corps of Engineers
in Huntington, WV.
Tori Craft
(Instructor - Ballet)
Tori began dance in first grade and continued through high
school taking classes in tap, modern, ballet, jazz, and lyrical
from the Princeton Dance Studio. She is a graduate of Princeton Senior
High where she danced on the Princeton High Dance Team serving as its
captain her Senior year. From 2002-2006, she performed with the
Princeton Performing Arts Company (PPAC) traveling and performing at
various competitions and conventions. In the summer of 2008, she worked
as a contemporary jazz instructor for PPAC. Tori is dancing for her
third year with Marshall University's Dance Team and is studying
Photography as her college major. She plans to graduate in 2011 with a
degree in Art and open her own photography portrait studio. Tori is
heading our ballet program this year. |
